President's Report

What an eventful year. We became an official Chapter of GBTA, held a very successful Gala, had great response and attendance at meetings, increased our membership and had a lot of fun and learning along the way. Not only did we elect a new Board, welcome Ruth, we also gained a large cadre of volunteers for our varied committees and kicked off the Education Day Committee, which I am excited about. Your feedback after the luncheons, helps us guide the content of future events and luncheons, as well as a full day of Education every other year, so thank you for that. Keep it coming.

This year promises to follow the same path. The Board will meet in February to plan to guide us through the rest of the year. Don’t forget to renew your memberships, as you’re not going to want to miss things.

The first meeting up for the year is our annual trip to SEATAC. Join us on January 22, where a panel of our friends from the Port of Seattle, will bring us up to date on the changes and upcoming activity. Bring your burning questions regarding parking, gate adds, passenger loads, will Anthony’s be back, what other food will be there, will TSA hours expand, etc., and get answers to them all.

I look forward to seeing you more and the future, and to another successful year.

Cheers,

Robert Wade - PSBTA President

PSBTA Announcements

CHARITY OUTREACH recap for 2019:

In 2019, we were able to hear from our adopted charity – Ronald Mcdonald House. It’s hard to hear stories of folks in need/hurting, but just as heartening to see the successes that come when those stories are shared. This is an amazing organization doing good work in our community and beyond. Because of your generosity, we were able to send for over $27,000 and your donated goods to them. PSBTA promises next year, we’ll still have tons of fun, while we change a life or two.

PSBTA would like to thank all of you for your generous donations! You have no idea what it does for our families. We are so grateful.

2. What was your path to get to where you are in your career? From teaching, to Finance, to Procurement, to the Present.
3. What new things are you excited to achieve for 2020 (personal or career)? NDC. No really. I think it will change the distribution world, as we know it, in much the same way OBT’s did 15 years ago. Everyone fought them, but here we are.
4. What is your next VACATION travel destination?: The Caribbean, where I’ll be, when this goes out. Jan 10-19.

Ruth Trail - Vice President

1. Current work position: Senior Sales Manager, Mayflower Park Hotel
2. What was your path to get to where you are in your career? I attended Washington State University and graduated with a degree in Hotel & Restaurant Administration. My first job was an internship with Hilton in Los Angeles where I learned the Housekeeping and Front Office departments. I worked at the Reno Hilton (3 years) and Warwick Hotel (4 years) in the Front Office and then a position came up in 1994 in the Sales office at the Warwick Hotel and so my sales career started there. I also worked at the Wyndham Garden Hotel in Bothell for 5 years handling corporate travel before starting at the Mayflower Park Hotel in 2006 where I also handle government, city wide conventions and corporate business.
3. What new things are you excited to achieve for 2020 (personal or career)? I’m excited about becoming more involved with PSBTA, helping with membership and serving as Vice President the next two years. Personally, I’d like to eat healthier and exercise more.
4. What is your next VACATION travel destination?: I’m looking forward to going to Lancashire (Lake District) in Northern England and Wales in August.

Karen Beauchamp - Treasurer

1. Current work position: Sr. Global Travel & Merchandise Manager
2. What was your path to get to where you are in your career? studied business degree as a base, willingness to try anything and learn new things every day
3. What new things are you excited to achieve for 2020 (personal or career)? Personal: I am trying to put me first wherever possible and obtain some work life balance which has been lacking.
Work: Bring on new partners that make sense for our business, employees and clients.
4. What is your next VACATION travel destination?: Big Island of Hawaii in March with my family

Lauren Moser - Secretary

1. Current work position: Sales Manager, Hyatt Regency Bellevue
2. What was your path to get to where you are in your career? I was bound to be a hospitality gal! After graduating from Washington State University (GO COUGS!) with a Hospitality Business Management degree, I started as a Front Office Agent at the Hyatt Regency Bellevue. From there, I began working my way up as a Reservationist, Sales Administrative Assistant, Business Travel Manager, and now as Group Sales Manager.
3. What new things are you excited to achieve for 2020 (personal or career)? I am always eager to learn and grow professionally, and to travel to new places.
4. What is your next VACATION travel destination?: Honeymoon in Dubai, Sri Lanka, and Maldives!
